Promoting Hygiene and Preventing Cholera at Borno State Vocational Enterprises Institute, Muna

In response to the recent cholera outbreak, our team at the Borno State Vocational Enterprises Institute, Muna conducted a comprehensive hygiene promotion awareness campaign aimed at protecting the health and well-being of children and young people within the institute. The awareness sessions focused on educating learners about the importance of personal hygiene, proper handwashing practices, safe water usage, environmental sanitation, and other preventive measures that help reduce the spread of cholera and other waterborne diseases. As part of the intervention, our team engaged directly with the children and young people across the institute, encouraging them to maintain clean living and learning spaces and adopt healthy hygiene habits. Practical demonstrations were conducted to show the correct way to wash hands, keep surroundings clean, and safely dispose of waste. The initiative also included routine monitoring and support to ensure that learners were maintaining clean environments and practicing good hygiene behaviors. By equipping children and young people with knowledge and practical skills, we are helping them take responsibility for their health and contribute to a safer and healthier environment.\r\n\r\nTPO, in partnership with UNICEF, remains committed to promoting health, dignity, and well-being among vulnerable children and communities.
